It was time to leave Darwin. We were all hooked up and ready to roll.
Our first stop was Berry Springs so that we could all have a last swim in the soothing water. Rose really enjoyed it.
Arnold took Rose under the waterfall but he didn't take her straight under and the water over her face had her gasping for breath. She eventually made it under. Apparently there is space under there where the water doesn't reach. I wouldn't know. There is no way I was going under but Rose was game lol
As there is another wider pool at the end of the stream Arnold and Rose swam down there. I should say Arnold swam and Rose floated her way down lol.
After a great time in the water we went on to Litchfield National Park; mainly to Wangi Falls where we were going to stay the night. When we got there all the spots were full so we parked our rigs in the carpark and went down to the water. Rose decided the water was too cold for her so she went off with her camera and took some photos, I went in a little way for a while but it took me ages to get all my body wet lol. Pat decided not to go in but Maureen and Arnold, being the swimmers (although Maureen did use her float noodles as it was quite a distance) swam right over to the falls. While they were there a man about our age got into difficulty and went under. When he came up he started to yell for help. Arnold noticed him and handed him the float noodle just in case the guy started grabbing at him in panic. He pulled him over to a rock ledge at the side of the falls. Another guy helped the man onto the ledge. Lucky Arnold was being observant.
After our swim we drove on to Adelaide River to stay the night. The following day Pat and Maureen drove on to Katherine and we went to Douglas Hot Springs for a couple of days. Below are a few pics of our stay there.
One of the spots where the water bubbles out of the ground
We then drove on to Katherine to meet up with Pat and Maureen. Below are a couple of pics of Rose and I at the Katherine Hot Springs today. The water was soooo lovely and warm.
After our swim we got changed and went to do some last minute shopping but first we stopped to take a photo of the Aboriginal Stockman on his horse which is situated close to the Information Centre. I do have the story of his life which I will tell in my next blog update.
We leave Katherine tomorrow and will head West. I won't have service for a little while as we will freecamp until we get to Kununurra. When we get to Timber Creek we plan on doing a sunset boat trip (which we have done before) up the Victoria River. Really looking forward to that. So until my next post I will say goodnight.
