MATARANKA AND THE THERMAL POOL

We left DalyWaters Pub and got to Mataranka about 12.  We booked in for two nights. After setting up we had a quick lunch and then made our way to the pool.  The thermal pool is just a short walk from our van.  And the water was .. deliciously warm and buoyant because of the thermal quality.

The four of us on our way to the pool

The palms surrounding the walkway to the pool

Because of the problem they have had with bats they have installed these very tall metal poles with sprinklers on the top to deter the bats if they decide they want to invade the palms and trees like they have done in the past.  We have seen it and it is very messy ... ugh.

The water was about 6 ft. deep and as I am not confident in any water out of my depth I used the "floaties".  They are excellent for keeping me afloat lol

Maureen had a thoroughly enjoyable time swimming to and fro and just enjoying the experience.  Pat also enjoyed the soothing water.

On our walk back to the park we saw this wallaby digging around in the undergrowth.  Very tame.

And this one was having a drink from a leaking tap right behind our vans.

On the morning we were leaving the resident Peacock was hanging around our van so we threw out some old bread and lettuce leaves.  It scoffed it all down.

It was time to leave and on the way out I took a pic of the Restaurant/Reception area.

As we have been here before and I have put up photos of the replica Elsey Homestead, Arnold just drove passed so I could take a photo.  It looks exactly the same as it did the last time.

As we got closer to Katherine I took a photo of a distance sign.  We were looking forward to staying in the one place for a while so getting to Katherine and booking into the Big 4 caravan park was on our mind.  It will be the first time we will put the big mat down under the awning and I will get my lounge chair out from under the bed, set it up outside with my pillow and book.  I cant wait  to spend some time reading, relaxing and perhaps having a nap or two lol

So until my next entry ... adios amigos :)
