We left Yulara Resort and drove as far as Curtin Springs. We were only going to stay one night but Jen and Arnold decided they would like to fly over the rock and as there was a booking available the following day we stayed 2 nights. The drive back to the airport was 85klms. They left about 10.30am for their 12.00 o'clock flight. I had fun scrapbooking. When they got back they were on a high and said how great it all was - both the flight and the scenery. Below are a few pics.
Pilot Andrew (only 23) and the Cessna. Arnold and Jen were the only two passengers.

The following morning we left Curtin Springs and drove as far as Mt Polhill freecamp about 60 klms from Alice Springs. Here we could use our generator for a little while.
I stood in the middle of the Stuart Highway and took a photo. Wow, no traffic. Lucky for me lol.
The following morning we left and got to Stuart Caravan Park in Alice Springs early enough to set up and then do some supermarket shopping. The next day (Thursday) we packed sandwiches and a flask and headed off. Our first stop was Simpsons Gap. The walk in was not too far and on even ground.

At the end of the path there is sand and a lovely view of water.

We left Simpsons Gap and drove on to Stanley Chasm. We would have our lunch there.
Below are some pics of the walk in and the Chasm.
We left Stanley Chasm and on the way back to Alice Springs we stopped at John Flynn's grave. His wife is also buried there.
We were quite worn out after all our sightseeing so back to the caravan park and happy hour. The following day (Friday) we went into Alice Springs, had a good look around and then went up to Anzac Hill Lookout. The opening through the MacDonnell Ranges is called Heavitree Gap which you can see from the lookout.
We have stayed in Alice Springs so we could watch "The Royal Wedding" which we will do tonight. So tomorrow we will head off again. Bye for now.
