BARN HILL TO KARIJINI NATIONAL PARK

We (John & Lesley, and Kim and Ray) left Barn Hill and stopped at a freecamp called DeGrey River.
The following morning we made our way to Port Hedland where we looked around the town before stocking up on food and heading out.

We stopped just out of the Hedland at a lookout which overlooks a very large sea salt mining area.

John and Lesley decided to stay at a caravan park in South Hedland so Kim and Ray, and Arnold and I drove on till we found a free camp where we stayed the night. The following day we drove on to Karijini National Park. The road towards the park was very scenic.
We will stay at Karijini for a couple of nights.
The site we had was so big we put both vans on one with our awnings facing each other.
I was still early enough to visit one of the falls. We could have walked there but we weren't sure how far it was so we drove. After parking the car we climbed down quite a steep path to the pool area below. It was called Fortesque Falls and Fern Pool was a little further on.

How good does this place look!! The young people climbed the wall and were jumping into the water which we though was quite dangerous.

From Fortesque Falls we walked to Fern Pool. We didn't swim but there quite a few people who were.

It was getting late so after climbing back up the steep slope (I was huffing and puffing) we went back to the van for a meal and a good nights sleep. Before we went to bed Arnold called me to see a dingo near our van. I took a couple of photos and then it just walked away.

The following morning we left early and drove about 130klms on roads like this from one gorge to another.

This gorge is called Kalamina and we walked part of it. It took about 3 hours. It was truly .... awesome!!

Well, we really enjoyed our time at Karijini and we will certainly go back there one day. Enjoy the photos and until the next entry, bye bye.
