There were some very unusual birds at Saddle creek and of course I had to take some photos.
After making sure we didn't have any fruit and vegies left, we left Saddle Creek and headed for the border. They went through our car and caravan to make sure we were not trying to sneak anything in. After being given the all-clear, our next stop was Kununurra. We hadn't booked a site and didn't realise that most caravan parks were booked out. We tried two before getting a great site at the third park. The next day we drove to Wyndham. We took a photo in front of a giant sculpture of a crocodile which is in the main street of Wyndham.
We then drove up to a lookout called 5 Rivers.
The lookout is a large area with some tables and benches so we decided to have our lunch here. After taking a few more photos we drove back down to a park which has some huge copper figures of aboriginal people and also some native animals.
We then drove back to the main street and visited a souvenir shop. Jen wanted to buy a carved boab nut so the lady in the shop told us to go to the waters edge behind the shop. This is where the aboriginal people sit and carve the boab nuts. The young girl to the left in the photo tried to sell us a nut but it wasn't very good as she had been drinking and her hands mustn't have been very steady. We then found a couple a little way along. The husband was fishing and the wife was carving the design on the boab nut. Their two small children were just hanging around looking bored. Jen bought a boab nut from them as it was reasonable and very well carved.
We started our climb back up to the top of the Grotto. You have to be careful as there are no handrails. We got to the top with a little huffing and puffing. Us "old girls" aren't as fit as we used to be LOL.
We got back to Kununurra and the following day we drove to Lake Argyle. Stay tuned. Byeee.
