We drove from Carnvarvon Gorge to Emerald (Lake Maraboon which is 17 klms from Emerald) and settled in.

Lake Maraboon is part of the Fairburn Dam. The main reason why people flock to Lake Maraboon is the redclaw. The people next to us had a tinny and each person is allowed four pots. Each pot can yield 10 redclaw. The bait is a mixture of sweet potato, rockmelon, watermelon. Arnold got to hold a live redclaw.

The caravan park was very tightly packed as most people come here to fish. The people were very friendly. When we left we had to drive across the wall of the dam. It was awesome.

In a park in Emerald there is this huge painting. Everyone stops to take a photo. Of course we did too.

We left Emerald and drove on to Rubyvale. The caravan park is home to so many different birds, one of which is this kookaburra.

The following day we did some gem fossicking (bucket wash actually). We did find some small gems. All in all it was fun just looking.

The fossicking park is called Miners Cottage because of the original shack (cottage) on the land.

The following day we went on a mine tour. It is still a working mine but they have made part of the mine a tourist attraction. It was very interesting.
We are leaving Rubyvale and making our way to Teresa Creek Dam. So until the next blog, bye bye.
